Abstract

The purpose of the contribution was to examine the relationship between work-related stress, self-efficacy, coping strategies and job satisfaction among educational professionals in primary school. The research sample included 267 Slovenian teachers and school counselors. The participants completed the General Self-Efficacy Scale, the Brief COPE Inventory and a specially designed scale for determining job satisfaction of educational professionals. The results revealed that participants are relatively often experiencing stress. They also reported high self-efficacy beliefs and high levels of job satisfaction. The most frequently used coping strategies were active coping and planning, which represent a constructive way of coping with stress. Significant correlations between the studied variables were identified. The results of multiple regression indicated that lower level of work stress, higher self-efficacy and more frequent use of productive coping contribute significantly to greater satisfaction of educational professionals.
